NearbyGTA — Local Business Directory

A useful way to find the places around you.

NearbyGTA — Local Business Directory

NearbyGTA is a free English and Russian directory for local businesses across Toronto and the GTA. I created the site, curated its business data, and built its publishing pipeline myself in 2026.

I wanted a local directory that felt easy to browse, even when you did not know the name of the business. NearbyGTA lets people start with a search, a category, a region, or a map.

The idea

Local discovery should have more than one doorway.

A search box is useful when you know what to type. NearbyGTA also supports browsing by category and area, with English and Russian content for the communities it serves.

What I built

The directory and the data behind it.

  • Multiple ways to explore — Search, category pages, regional pages, business profiles, and a map connect visitors with local listings.
  • Curated business data — I collected and organized the listings and built a Python pipeline to generate the published pages.
  • Lightweight publishing — Static pages and prepared images keep the directory quick to browse and straightforward to deploy.
